I am the kind of person who researches something for weeks before making a purchase. I looked at all the department stores, auto stores, and even Jeep itself to find a great car-top carrier that was absolutely waterproof for our Jeep Cherokee. We don't have the storage space or money for a hard-top carrier (the solid ones). I was timid about this one because it was low in price, I mean, what can you expect for $35? My husband and I drove this back home FULL of Christmas gifts and baby gear (a 15-hour round-trip) in the snow and rain, and it was AMAZING. No noise, no trouble!!! I am 5'4" tall, and I was able to put this carrier on (by standing on the back tire) and load it all by myself!!! I pinned the extra strap length down with safety pins as another user suggested, so they wouldn't blow in the wind. This was great-- I love this carrier, and when I was finished with it, I took it off (by myself) and folded it up small enough that it fit back in the box-- NO KIDDING-- a little larger than the average shoe box!
