I purchased this directly from 'Mr. Smith', in 2008, and also the lanyard, which is very helpful, because without it you have to dig up your own means to have it dangle around your neck! Mainly I use it for cycling, in one of the pockets of my Oakley hydration pack, with the lanyard hanging out in case of emergency, since it carries my vital papers; 2 medical cards and emergency contact card, plus a credit card for stopping along the way for a bite to eat or emergency bike repair.
Go by what the directions say - only carry what it can hold, because if you stuff it with more than it can take, the inside top will never stay on or you will stress the plastic and it could break. It's made for minimal use, so you should not be stuffing it with things you normally carry in your wallet, like an arsenal of pictures or fifty credit cards! I carry $5 and a few $1's, in additional to the vital papers and 1 credit card. (I don't take my driver's license cycling)
I purchased the orange color for visibility. Another plus, it's transparent. For me, in case of an emergency, the medical card is facing out. I had such an experience, hit by a car while cycling and it was a cinch for the EMT's and police to find my vital information, whereas I was not able to tell them where to look!
